It's a New Year at the
World's Fastest Quarter-Mile Oval! |
February
24, 2004; Slinger, WI - Just as in
life, the only constant is change in the world of motorsports. While the countrys
most popular racing sanctioning body, saw its share of changes in 2004, so will the
high banks of Slinger Super Speedway. As we fast approach the start of the 58th year of
racing at the legendary facility, fans and drivers alike will need to adjust to some
exciting changes to the Sunday night racing tradition. Speedway owner and promoter, Wayne
Erickson, was at the forefront of this modernization and believes that this year will go
down! in history as one of the best years of Slinger Super Speedway competition. We
hope attract more than 125,000 fans in 2004, said Erickson, and we are excited
about the start of the season.
In just over one month racing action will commence with the annual Miller Twin 75s
Spring Opener. Until then, its important to highlight the changes made in the off
season.
Goodbye Team Cruisers, Hello Thunder Stocks!
In 2004, Erickson, has replaced the Team Cruiser division with the Thunder Stock division.
The Team Cruiser division added a lot of excitement to racing action at Slinger and
we thank the drivers for their involvement over the years, said Erickson, but
we need to keep the competition fresh for the fans and we know that the Thunder Stocks
will be a great addition to the other seven divisions.
Loyal speedway fans will remember the 2003 division switch, which replaced the Slinger
Stinger division with the popular Midwest Sportsman division. The staff of Slinger Super
Speedway will do everything in their power to make this transition as smooth for the new
faces we are sure to see entering the Thunder Stock division when the season opens in just
over a month. Rules are now available by sending $5.00 to PO Box 312, Slinger, Wisconsin
53086.
New VIP Suite
Suite and pavilion entertainment are among the most popular aspects of the Slinger Sunday
night tradition. The fan and corporate hospitality options offered by the speedway are a
great way to gather friends and to thank loyal employees. Due to the overwhelming
popularity of the climate controlled VIP Suite in 2003, Erickson is building a brand new
suite, which will be available for rental throughout the 2004 season. The state of the art
building is located south of the existing suite and will offer guests a premium view of
on-track activity. Groups interested in securing a date in the new suite should contact
the speedways office at 262-644-5921 for availability and pricing.
25th Annual Miller Nationals
Defending Nextel Cup Champion, Matt Kenseth, will return to Slinger Super Speedway for
Round One of the 25th running of the world-famous Miller Nationals on Tuesday, July 13,
2004. Other celebrity guests and drivers will be announced as the event draws near, but

for this years title. Bickle, who won also the Slinger Super Speedway Nationals in
1992 and 1996, had two solid years in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 1996 and 1997,
winning three races and finishing second in the NCTS points chase in 97, driving for
Darrell Waltrip. Tickets for the Miller Nationals will be available after May 1, 2004 by
