Slinger Super Speedway Nationals to Feature Current NASCAR Winston Cup Points Leader Matt Kenseth!

Slinger, WI - March 30, 2003 -  One of Wisconsin’s most famous names in racing, Cambridge native Matt Kenseth, will visit the famed high banks of Slinger Super Speedway during round one of the Miller Lite Nationals on July 22, 2003. Kenseth, the current NASCAR Winston Cup Points Leader and defending champion of the Miller Lite Nationals at Slinger Super Speedway, will join other notable drivers in the 225 lap chase for the checkered flag.

It was a salute to the crowd as the Late Models line up four wide on the parade lap before the green flag fell on the 200 lap main event last year.

In 2003, Slinger Super Speedway’s track owner and promoter, Wayne Erickson, will team up with Madison International Speedway’s promoter, Roy Kenseth, to run a two-part Miller Lite Nationals show featuring round two at Madison International Speedway on August 19, 2003. Although a significant purse will be awarded during each round of the Nationals, competitors will be required to compete in both events to be eligible for the point fund. Upon completion of the second round, the 2003 Miller Lite Nationals champion will be crowned.

In addition to the on-track activities at Slinger Super Speedway during the first round of the Miller Lite Nationals, fans will have the unique opportunity to meet Matt Kenseth during the official autograph session. The time and place of the autograph session has yet to be determined, however it is likely to take place prior to the evening’s 225-lap late model feature. Additional drivers slated to compete in the night’s event and participate in the autograph session.

Tickets for both rounds of the 2003 Miller Lite Nationals will go on sale April 27, 2003 at the Slinger Super Speedway box office. Adult tickets will be available for $20 in advance and $22 on the night of each event. Student tickets for children ages 10-15 will be $10 and children ages 9 and under will receive free admission to each round when accompanied by an adult. The rain date for round one of the Miller Lite Nationals is Wednesday, July 23, 2003 and Wednesday, August 20, 2003 for round two.

The 2003 Miller Lite Nationals is a special event joining the Slinger Super Speedway regular season Sunday night schedule, which includes an event lineup of the Late Model, Midwest Modified, Midwest Sportsman, Figure 8 and Team Cruisers at the World’s Fasted Quarter Mile Paved Oval. Slinger Super Speedway’s schedule runs from April 27, 2003 through September 21, 2003. Advertising and sponsorship opportunities with the speedway still exist for the 2003 season.
