Wallace latest entrant in 21st Annual Miller Lite Nationals at Slinger Super Speedway! July 25, 2000; Slinger, WI - NASCAR Winston Cup and Busch Grand National driver Kenny Wallace has been added to the impressive list of drivers scheduled to compete in the 21st Annual Miller Lite Nationals Sunday July 30th at the Slinger Super Speedway. Wallace joins Dick Trickle, Rich Bickle, Ken Schrader, and Jason Schuler as visiting NASCAR stars set to challenge top late model drivers such as Conrad Morgan, Lowell Bennett, Brad Mueller and other top area late model drivers that will vie for the Larry Detjens Memorial Trophy and Miller Lite Nationals title in the 200 lap late model main event. NASCAR Winston Cup Rookie-of-the-Year point leader and 1994 Miller Lite Nationals champion Matt Kenseth will also be on hand to sign autographs. Kenseth, who finished fifth in the Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono last Sunday, makes his first appearance at a Wisconsin race track since becoming the first rookie to win the Coca-Cola 600 last May. Wallace, who currently drives the Square D #55 Chevrolet on the Winston Cup circuit and the #25 Lance Snacks Chevrolet in selected Busch Grand National events, last competed in the Miller Lite Nationals in 1996 and is seeking his first Nationals title. Wallace enters the Nationals competition coming off a 21st place finish at Pocono last Sunday and has eight BGN wins and eight Winston Cup pole positions to his credit. Trickle, whose 1200 plus race wins in nearly 40 years of competition has earned him the title of the "Winningest Stock Car Driver in America," will be looking for his record-setting fifth Nationals title, having one the prestigious event in 1982, 1983, 1985, and 1989. Trickle finished 14th in the Busch Grand National event at Pikes Peak International Raceway last Saturday. Bickle, a two-time Slinger Speedway track champion with over 230 career
short track main event victories, is seeking his third Nationals crown after capturing the
event in 1992 and 1996. Bickle finished 11th while relief driving at Pocono for Terry
Labonte and plans on entering the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis in August.. While Schrader is a native of Fenton Missouri, he has logged many laps on Wisconsin short tracks and has scored a Nationals feature victory at Slinger. Schrader was the NASCAR Winston Cup Rookie of the Year in 1985 and has won races in stock cars, sprints and midgets. Advance tickets for the July 30th Miller Lite Nationals are now on sale at the Slinger Speedway track office or at Pioneer Plaza, located at Highways 41& 145 in Richfield. Fans can save $3.00 when they purchase tickets in advance before Saturday, July 29th at 4 p.m. Spectator gates open at 3 p.m. with qualifying and preliminary races beginning at 5:30pm. The 200 lap Late Model feature will follow the preliminary events which include Midwest Modified races and fans will also be treated to an autograph session with the NASCAR stars. Kids, ages 9 & under, will be admitted free and the rain date is Monday, July 31st. Fans in attendance also will be entered into the season long give-a-ways where a new truck, T.V., and a Trip to Vegas, will be awarded later in the season. Special annoucned to wrap up 2000 Season! Special; Slinger, WI - September 24th will mark the Special events at Slinger Super Speedway. The afternoon will include the Spectator 200 Enduro and a Demo Derby plus, the new event of the Mini-Amtrack Race. The Spectator 200 is a 200 lap event for street type cars and novice drivers. All cars will start the three abreast with a large cash prize going to the first car that travels the 200 lap distance first. Only the first 130 entries for the Spectator Cars will be taken. The order the entries come in is the way you will be lined up for the 200 lap event. Spectator 200 cars may also enter the demo derby with the same car. The Mini-Amtrack Race, are three cars tied together with a chain between 3 cars. The group will be timed for starting position, and there is a 5 group minimum entry.
